Optical Assistant Team of the year 2020

We are thrilled to announce that we have won an award at the national optician awards! The annual optician awards are the largest and most prestigious awards in the optical calendar and sponsors include big industry players like Johnson & Johnson, Asda Opticians and Nikon. Practices enter from all over the UK and categories include things like Independent Practice of the Year and Fashion Practice of the year.

We have been shortlisted for an award twice before, once in 2015 for Family optician of the Year and in 2019 for Optical Assistant Team of the Year. In 2020 we were shortlisted in that category again, only this time…we won!! The award for Optical Assistant Team of the Year recognises a ‘support team that demonstrate excellence in customer service and patient care’.

Normally the winners are announced at a glittering ceremony with 500 people in attendance, but due to COVID , like everything else in 2020 they were cancelled and held online instead. We were obviously disappointed not to be able to enjoy the evening as intended, but we made the best of it and held a socially distanced screening in the practice. All finalists were asked to record an acceptance speech in advance and we had great fun doing that!

Winning an optician award has been a goal of ours for so long, to be shortlisted is a fabulous achievement but to win one has made 2020 into a year we will never forget..for all the right reasons! We are a passionate and hard working team, and to be recognised on such a well known and illustrious platform is the ultimate validation.
